How to "cleanse" your body without juice!

Spring clean your diet with this simple salad recipe.

At MTHR nutrition we do not believe in juice cleanses or detox programs--yes everyone can benefit from eating more fruits and vegetables, but drinking only juice or cayenne pepper spiked lemonade for a week... not the answer.

The kidney and liver are the two major detoxifying organs; however, they need certain nutrients in order to effectively remove toxins from our body. Juice cleanse programs are often deficient in the the nutrients needed for effective detoxification in the body, and therefore may actually do more harm than good when it comes to the removal of toxins.

Feeding your body with real, nutrient dense foods is the best way to support effective detoxification. Our salad recipe contains the best ingredients to support a healthy liver and kidney so you can feel your best this Spring, without spending $400 on juice...

Green Apple: contains the fiber pectin, which helps the body detox metals, additives, and preservatives.

Avocado: contains the antioxidant glutathione, which helps the liver remove toxins and chemicals in your body.

Cabbage: contains the micronutrient sulfur and helps to activate the liver's detoxifying enzymes

Lemon: helps to flush toxins from your body by converting them into a water-soluble form for easy excretion

Watermelon Radish: contains anthocyanins, a flavonoid (plant compound) with anti-inflammatory factors.  Radishes also have a high water content, which helps you maintain moisture in your skin giving you that "healthy glow"!

Kale: the mecca of nutrition--contains omega-3s, fiber sulfur, vitamin K, vitamin C. Kale supports a healthy immune system, metabolism and hydration.
